Who we are
A Global Community of Instructors, Built by Instructors
Welcome to the IQTT Network — a space created by certified GWO Instructor Qualification Training Trainers (IQTTs) who saw the need for something more than a list of names or a one-off training event.
We’re instructors who believe in collaboration over competition, in sharing instead of silos, and in supporting one another as we carry the responsibility of shaping the future of wind industry training.
This platform is here to connect IQTTs from all over the world, no matter what company or country you work in. It’s an independent, community-driven space designed to help us:
- Share training dates and open sessions
- Find co-instructors or support across borders
- Exchange resources, templates, and tools
- Discuss challenges and insights in our field
- Stay inspired and up-to-date on what’s happening in the world of instructor qualification

After four years of teaching GWO BST, I expected the IQT course to be easy—but it was a game-changer. It introduced innovative, hands-on teaching methods that went far beyond traditional PowerPoint slides. I learned to engage learners in more creative, scenario-based ways, both in the classroom and on the job.
IQT challenged my assumptions and helped me grow as an instructor. It’s a must for anyone serious about modern, learner-focused training.

Before starting the GWO IQT course, I was already a technical instructor at SENAI BA, but I had never deeply reflected on the facilitator's role in adult learning. The course completely changed my perspective — and with it, how I approach training.
IQT challenged me to step out of my comfort zone. It wasn’t just about teaching; it was about unlearning outdated methods and embracing an adult-centered, practical, and engaging approach. Concepts like andragogy, communication tools, learner autonomy, and active participation were transformative.
The learning environment created by our facilitator, Jeremy Faria, was inspiring — collaborative, challenging, and welcoming. I experienced the real impact of structured, goal-driven sessions using active methods and constructive feedback. It gave me both confidence and renewed purpose.
Going forward, I’ll bring this into my GWO trainings — making sessions more dynamic, results-driven, and learner-focused. I aim to help professionals become safer, more prepared, and more conscious in every module.
IQT didn’t just certify me — it changed how I teach and why I teach. I’m truly grateful. I now consider myself a facilitator aligned with the GWO Standard and Taxonomy.

I recently completed the IQT Training program in Porto, July 2024, and I'm still reaping the benefits. Our instructor, Paulo, was exceptional - his expertise, enthusiasm, and guidance were instrumental in helping me develop my training skills.
Personally, I've noticed a significant improvement in my confidence and ability to present complex safety information in a clear and engaging way. The training has empowered me to deliver more effective safety training sessions on site, which has been invaluable in my role as a HSE Officer.
This training has also laid a solid foundation for my future career aspirations, particularly in becoming a GWO Training Instructor. I'm confident that the skills and knowledge gained from this program will be highly beneficial in this role, enabling me to effectively train and mentor others in wind industry best practices.
I would highly recommend Paulo as an instructor - his passion for teaching and dedication to his students are truly commendable. I would also highly recommend the IQT Trainer Training program to anyone looking to enhance their training skills, or pursue a role as a GWO Training Instructor.
Instructor Qualification Training (IQT) – 9-Day Course
Becoming a GWO-certified instructor starts with the Instructor Qualification Training — a structured, interactive 9-day program designed to prepare you for delivering GWO modules with the highest standards of quality and safety.
Direct from the GWO Standard (IQT V1):
"The aim of the Instructor Qualification Training is to qualify instructors to deliver GWO training in accordance with GWO standards and adult learning principles. The training enables the participants to deliver training that is learner-focused, engaging, and aligned with the GWO Taxonomy.”
The training focuses on:
- Understanding and applying adult learning principles
- Designing and delivering lessons based on GWO learning objectives
- Facilitating scenario-based learning in a wind training context
- Practicing instructional delivery, giving/receiving feedback
- Assessing learning outcomes in a structured and fair way
- Being evaluated by an IQTT using the GWO Instructor Assessment Tool
“Participants shall plan, deliver, and reflect on training sessions based on GWO standards, receive feedback from peers and instructors, and demonstrate competence through formative and summative assessment.”
Who is this for?
Anyone aiming to become a certified GWO Instructor, with relevant industry and subject-matter expertise, and a passion for teaching in high-risk environments.
Instructor Training Qualification Crossover – For Existing GWO Instructors (IQTx)
If you're already certified as a GWO Instructor in one or more modules, you may be eligible to complete a shorter Instructor Qualification Crossover — a focused session designed to validate your instructional competence without repeating the full 9-day course.
Direct from the GWO Crossover Addendum:
“The Instructor Qualification Crossover aims to validate the competences of certified GWO instructors according to the learning objectives in the Instructor Qualification Training standard, without them having to attend the full IQT.”
Requirements include:
- Holding a valid GWO Instructor certificate in at least one module
- Having documented training delivery experience (e.g. course logs)
- Participating in a practical training session assessed by an IQTT
- Demonstrating the ability to engage learners using GWO methods
- Meeting the learning objectives of the IQT through observation
“Participants in the Crossover must demonstrate they meet the same learning objectives and assessment criteria as the full IQT course.”
Who is this for?
This route is ideal for experienced instructors who want to formalize their status under the IQT framework and continue to contribute to high-quality instruction across GWO modules.
